Nor-shipping 2019 Exhibition and Conference

Nor-Shipping is one of the world’s largest maritime trade fairs at which hundreds of businesses, organisations and governments associated with the shipping industry exhibit and participate in workshops and conferences.  It has been held in Norway every two years since 1965.  During the 2019 event in Oslo I contributed to two sessions:

Financing and Governance for Sustainability and Decarbonisation

This was one of a series of Blue Talks on different aspects of shipping.  I took part in a panel discussion on the financing of decarbonisation initiatives in the maritime sector.

Intelligence Hunt: Blue Economy- Maritime Industry and Responsible Growth

The Intelligence Hunt is an initiative organised by the Finnish company Sea Focus to give international groups of students the opportunity to work together on company-sponsored research projects related to the shipping industry. This year it culminated in a session at Nor-Shipping during which eight teams presented the results of their case studies before a jury.   I had the pleasure of being a member of this judging panel.  The winning team worked on a project commissioned by the Finnish marine engineering firm, Wärtsilä which developed an app comparing the cost, travel time and CO2 emissions of personal and freight journeys involving a ferry service. Details of the event.
